Back in February, the girls of Cockpit asked for some new band shots, and I was happy to oblige. They just needed a few, quick shots that they could use for some upcoming touring, so to keep things simple we stayed in and around their practice room in Hollywood.
During the course of the shoot, I learned that the girls were supposed to take photos of themselves in their Guitar Star t-shirts to send to the company. They didn’t need anything fancy, but since I had enough time to stick around, they decided to have some fun in the hot tub. Because, seriously, who wouldn’t love a bunch of girls wearing their t-shirts in a hot tub?
A few months back, Willie Nelson was in town to play a few shows and I was asked to shoot a few publicity shots for his harmonica player, Mickey Raphael. Mickey’s a little camera shy, so we didn’t tell him before the show that we were shooting him, but I’m sure he realized what was going on when he saw my camera constantly pointed at him. And while the shooting conditions weren’t ideal, I think we got some fun, natural shots of Mickey doing his thing.
So, without further ado, meet Mickey.
Of course, I had to get a shot in of Willie.
And finally, Mickey in the spotlight with a solo towards the end of the show.
When you first meet Angela, you wouldn’t guess that within that quiet, small, Disney-loving person is a hardcore rocker chick. I first met Ang years ago, when she was playing with my sister in Cockpit. An amazing guitarist and talented musician, you can see Ang play with prominent cover bands Blonde Jovi and Valley Dolls. And most recently, she’s been teaching guitar lessons at the Guitar Center in Woodland Hills, so if any of you are in need of a guitar lessons, give Ang a call!
