Yes, I have been MIA…for this entire year. I thought I was going to be able to blog all the way through this, but it turns out I can’t blog, leave my job, pack, have a sinus infection, and road trip all at the same time.
So what happened to the month of January? I had 2 family photo sessions (which I will be blogging about soon) and left my full-time gig. Edwin and I packed up way too much stuff and put it in storage, and then we drove out to Breckenridge, CO, where we’ll be staying for the rest of the winter. Yes, we relocated from 60 degree weather to 10 degree weather so we can snowboard for the next 3 months. Some people are like, whaaa??? But others are like, yeeeeah, we’re coming out to visit! Lucky for them we have a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom while we’re out here, and our guest calendar is filling up quite quickly. We’ve been here less than a week and have already had our first guest, who will be back in just 10 days!
While I’m here I’m hoping to do a lot of things. Get better at snowboarding. Build a new photography website. Figure out if I can / want to work on photography full time. Learn how to design photo albums. Read the growing pile of books that I haven’t gotten to in the past 2 years. Watch old movies. Sleep. Be good enough at snowboarding to not be afraid to bring my camera up on the mountain with me. Get some good landscape shots even though I’ll be freezing my ass off. And I hope that I don’t re-read this in May and feel like I didn’t accomplish any of these things!
I haven’t had much of a chance to get out around town with my camera yet, but that should hopefully come this week. While I will be documenting some of our adventure on this blog, Edwin and I have started another “mini” blog where we can post random photos and happenings of our homeless adventure. For now, here’s a little bit of our road trip out to Colorado.
Our 10×10 storage unit. We didn’t purge at all when we moved from New York to LA, so it took us a good 2 weeks to go through all of our stuff. It was ridiculous how much stuff we ended up keeping. I especially love how Edwin wrote “fragile”. Every fragile box looks like that.
Our first peek of the mountains and snow when we hit Utah.
We plan to hit up the national parks when we head back to LA.
Our packed little car.
And finally, (colorful) Colorado!
