I’m a firm believer that if I feel fear, then I must be doing something right. Well, that is, except when it comes to haunted houses and horror movies. Those are just wrong. But really, when someone asks me to do something and I’m a little scared of it, then I know I’m being pushed outside my comfort zone. And that’s a good thing.
A couple of months ago, I was asked to take on a shoot for beauty products. Since I’m used to live subjects and making the most of natural light, this wasn’t the most normal request for me. And the slight fear I had when I would think about the project let me know that this was something I needed to do.
BeautyBar.com has a service called Sample Society, which sends subscribers a box of five deluxe samples of beauty products each month. I had the fun of styling a photo for them with five products I thought looked ultra lux. With input from their marketing and creative team, this was our final result.
Seeing the image in use was actually more exciting that I anticipated. Here are two examples of how it will be used, in a banner and an email.
A big thank you to the ladies at BeautyBar.com for thinking of me for this. And, of course, for all the fun goodies to play with after the shoot was over.
